Shiloh Keeps “Moving Forward” 153 Years Later and confirms its Legacies of Ministry, Service, and Progress.
Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church’s Legacies of Ministry, Service, and Progress are showcased throughout this
issue of The Shield. As we share news of the church’s 153rd Anniversary celebration and the activities of our
many church ministries, readers will discover the historical highlights of Shiloh’s contributions then and now.
In articles throughout this issue, readers will learn the ministries of the church seek to serve Shiloh members
and the community beyond and to welcome everyone to the many services and inspirational activities that are
offered.
In his opening message, Pastor Fred Jeff Smith shares his thoughts on the “Dilemma of the Black Church and
Shiloh.” His provocative statements give us much to ponder in our role in continuing to share the Gospel – in
Word, song, prayer, and action.
I continually feel blessed for the opportunity to work with excellent staff members and other contributors. No
matter what work needs to be done and when, wholehearted teamwork is evident. Thanks to all that make this
newsletter possible.
To Shiloh family and friends everywhere, thank you for your interest in what’s going on at our church. We look
forward to the end of 2025 and the major celebrations that the seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas bring.
The Shield staff pledges our support in reporting about these year-end events and more in coming issues.
In closing, I remind our readers of Shiloh’s first-time theme for the year announced by our pastor at the beginning
of 2025 – “LOVE MATTERS” – and his acknowledgement that LOVE should be shown toward each other
and ourselves.
